A Message to Our Community

Dear Friends,

As we reflect on the last year at Homes for the Brave, we recognize a year defined by meaningful achievements.

Our Headquarters Building Project, which began prior to 2020, has culminated in a remarkable facility—unlike any other in Connecticut or the surrounding region—for Veterans transitioning from homelessness. The newly renovated Homes for the Brave now features 11 private suites, a beautiful second-floor library, and a lower-level wellness space complete with fitness, music, reflection, and TV/game rooms. The outside grounds have been transformed into a welcoming plaza, lined with commemorative bricks and benches.

Thanks to your support, we've been able to stand by our Veterans as they face life's challenges head-on. It has been an extraordinary year for both our Clinical and Vocational Programs. Our Clinical team provided essential care and guidance to 344 Veterans and their family members, helping them heal and rebuild. Meanwhile, our Vocational Program empowered 78% of participating Veterans to take meaningful steps toward independence through job placements, training programs, and college enrollment.

Even amid the disruptions of construction, our dedicated staff remained unwavering in their commitment to guiding Veterans along the path to independence. Simultaneously, our exceptional Board of Directors provided steady leadership—offering insight, dedication, and vision that helped steer us through the year.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your steadfast commitment to our Veterans and their futures. Your support makes a lasting impact, and we invite you to continue standing with us as we help those who served reach their fullest potential.

Please enjoy our Annual Report and respond by making a tax-deductible contribution. We look forward to continuing to work together in service to the men and women who answered the call to serve our country.

SUCCESS STORY

Meet Perry.
U.S. Marine Corps Veteran

"If you fight against it, it will come back to bite you. But if you embrace it, it will provide the stability and support you need to overcome your personal obstacles."

A former Military Police Officer and Sniper, Perry fell on hard times after losing his job and his mother in rapid succession. Facing eviction and grief, he turned to Homes for the Brave.

With the aid of our vocational specialists, Perry didn't just find shelter—he found a career. He secured a position as an armed security guard and successfully transitioned into his own permanent housing.
